A victorious journey of web technologies: backbone for libraries

A library can expand its community and be more transparent via using web technologies. A certain level of modification in the existing system can make library human, ubiquitous, and more user-centered. The concrete requirement is to transform a library into a complete web based environment. The present study is an attempt to discuss the journey of new emerging web technologies from web 1.0 to web 3.0. Explains the application areas of web 2.0 and their usages, web based tools and their use in libraries. Finally draws a comparison of web 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 and also evaluates these.
