Abstract

The goal of this paper is to evaluate RFID implementation in university libraries by looking at MDU, Rohtak, and Panjab University, Chandigarh. RFID and university libraries play an active role in helping their parent institution and users achieve their overall goals. A university library's performance as a service institution must be evaluated to determine whether the library meets its specific objectives and to justify library funding. According to the data analysis, this study discovered that in terms of ICT-skilled staff, 100 percent of respondents in PU and 93.75 percent of respondents in MDU are ICT-skilled. The installation of RFID was deemed a complete success by all staff in both libraries. Furthermore, the study findings indicated that RFID is very effective in terms of renewing, receiving, reserving, and paying fees in 75 percent of PU and 81.25 percent of MDU. In the case of user library in both PU and MDU, the majority of users, 85 percent and 78 percent respectively, use a self-checked system or get a book issued, and 47 percent of respondents are fully satisfied in PU and 34 percent are fully satisfied in MDU, Rohtak. The majority of both libraries' users are pleased with the technology. Both libraries are reaping the benefits of reduced queues at circulation desks and a reduction in the number of staff required to manage circulation. Following the implementation of RFID, the library's collection has become more secure. As a result, according to the findings of this study, library customers are satisfied when the quality of services meets their expectations.
