Library resources and services in Government Law College Libraries of North East India: A study on user’s satisfaction

The present study aims to know the level of satisfaction of users with resources and services of government law college libraries of North East India. To collect the required information from users Questionnaire method was used among the six government law college libraries within the geographical boundary of the states of North East India. 420 questionnaires were distributed among the students and faculties, out of which 312 questionnaires were accepted for analysis. For the study users were selected randomly. The major findings of the study reveal that all libraries provide a good range of library services such as circulation service, display of new arrival, reservation of books service (100 percent), reference service (83.33 percent), reprographic service (66.66 percent), etc. The respondents are found to be satisfied with the availability of library resources i.e. (Highly Satisfied (HS) and Satisfied (S)= 52.42 percent) and the services (HS and S= 59.66 percent) provided by the surveyed libraries. The satisfaction level regarding different ICT-based library facilities, the libraries need to further strengthen their facilities (HS and S= 25.85 percent). The study is a unique one as no such study was conducted on user satisfaction with libraries in the government law college of North East India. The study will support researchers to explore the studies on users of government law college libraries in the region. Based on the finding it can be said that the libraries of the government law college of North East India have the potential to strengthen their facilities and services.
