Use of social networking sites by the library users of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, India

The purpose of this study was to explore use of social networking sites by the students of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. The study conducted through a structured questionnaire administrated among the library users. The study found that a majority of the students were aware of social networking sites and use these sites for making friends and uploading their photos and other ideas. Facebook was the most popular social networking sites by all the library users. The main purpose of the using social networking sites by the users to link with their friends. Only 10.90% users got information about social networking sites through their faculty members.
