This paper presents India's growth and development in physics discipline as per Indian Science Abstracts (ISA). ISA is a useful tool to study the scientific research productivity. The literature covered in the ISA for the period 2006- 2010 was considered. During 2006- 2010, a total of 4698 articles and 789 thesis were produced in the field. The average number of article publications published per year was 939.6 and the highest numbers of papers 970 were published in 2010. In addition, it analyses the most preferred journals, highly productive institutions and state wise distributions of thesis in the field of physics.
