This paper analyzes 744 research publications of Chandigarh in social sciences during ten years (2006–15), as covered in Scopus International database. The study quantifies publication data in various aspects of performance, such as the publication growth, research impact and quality, national and international collaboration, contribution and impact of authors, and preferred channels of research communications. The findings reveal that Chandigarh University total publications in social sciences has increased at an annual average growth rate of 33.70% and registered an average citation impact per paper of 2.94 during 2006–15. Of its total publications 52.02% publications of Chandigarh did not get any citations as against 47.98% getting 1 or more citations. The 15.73% and 7.53% of the Chandigarh publications in social sciences were involved in national and international collaboration during 2006–15. Among its performance in top 10 most productive Indian cities, Chandigarh stood at 8th rank in terms of publications output (744) and 6th rank in average citation per paper (2.94) during 2006–15. The top 9 most productive organizations of Chandigarh in social sciences together contributed 688 papers and registered 2072 citations, accounting for 92.47% and 94.78% of the total papers and citations respectively. Of the several authors involved in 744 papers by Chandigarh in social sciences during 2006–15, the top 25 most productive authors together contributed 52.42% and 76.62% share of total publications and citations of Chandigarh in social sciences during 2006–15. Of the more than 200 journals contributing to Chandigarh in social sciences, the top 30 most productive journals together contributed 323 papers, accounting for 54.28% share of the total journal output of Chandigarh in social sciences during 2006–15. It is suggested that university should make concentrated efforts to improve research environment and take concrete steps to improve research output and quality and increase national and international collaboration.
