Scientometric analysis of the college and research libraries journal during 2007–16

Abstract

This paper provides a citation analysis of publications of the College & Research Libraries journal, bi-monthly, online-only scholarly research journal of the Association of College & Research Libraries. The paper analyses the most published authors, most cited articles, top institutions and the nationality of the authors that are most represented in the journal from 2007–2016. A total of 420 articles containing 3356 citations were taken from the Scopus citation database and an analysis of 3356 citations was carried out using the Scopus online analytical tool and Excel. Results indicate that the most published authors within CRL are Walter, S. and Branin, J.J. The single most cited article is Mackey and Jacobson's 2011 article “Reframing information literacy as a metaliterac”. A keyword analysis revealed that the most important terms used in the journal were ‘Academic libraries’, ‘Information Literacy’ and ‘Libraries’. It is found that, contributions of articles to each volume of College & Research Libraries is nearly consistent and on an average 42 articles every year and on average 6.88 articles in each issue have been published. Single authored articles are found to be the highest followed by two and three authored articles.
