Geomorphologic and topographic characteristics of a watershed play an important role in the development and management of its natural resources. In this study, a morphometric analysis was done to assess the hydrologic behaviour using geomorphologic, shape and physiographic parameters of two sub-watersheds (Chaukhutia and Gagas) of the Ramganga River in the Indian central Himalayan region. A quantitative analysis was carried out for comparative evaluation of these watersheds based on a number of aspects. It was revealed that both the watersheds have almost similar maturity status and the Chaukhutia watershed is more likely to produce more and quick runoff rate, which makes it more prone to soil erosion and sedimentation. Therefore, appropriate measures may be adopted in each watershed for the development and management of its own natural resources.
