Abstract

This study explores the ethical concerns surrounding the use of ChatGPT in media research, employing a qualitative interview methodology to gather insights from experts in the field. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into research processes, understanding its ethical implications is crucial. Through in-depth interviews, the researchers examine various ethical issues such as bias, transparency, accountability, and the potential for misuse. The findings suggest that the ethical concerns associated with using ChatGPT for media research are predominantly influenced by how the tool is utilized by researchers, rather than the inherent functioning patterns and responses of ChatGPT itself. Proper guidelines, responsible usage, and awareness of AI limitations are essential to mitigate ethical risks. The conclusion emphasizes the need for researchers to be mindful of their approach to leveraging ChatGPT, ensuring it aligns with ethical standards and contributes positively to media research.
