Abstract

In our tech-driven world, we should not ask if women fit in the Information Technology Sector but how their empowerment can shape our digital future. Today’s changing global workforce has drawn increasing attention to the impact of gender diversity on organisations. Kerala, a southern Indian state, provides a unique case study due to its notable progress in the Information Technology (IT) sector. This research contributes significantly to existing literature by examining the intricate relationships between women’s empowerment, task conflict, productivity, and employee turnover intention in Kerala’s IT sector. Based in Techno Park, Thiruvananthapuram, the study includes 229 women IT professionals and employs a mixed-method approach with primary and secondary data sources. Primary data gathered through interviews and surveys informs statistical analysis conducted meticulously with IBM AMOS and SPSS. The study underscores the importance of women’s empowerment and constructive conflict resolution for improving productivity within the IT sector. A statistically significant positive relationship between empowerment, task conflict and productivity emerges. These findings have practical implications for organisations seeking to empower and retain their female IT workforce by fostering inclusive work environments that enhance productivity and manage task conflicts. This research aims to contribute significantly to the broader discussion on women’s empowerment in workplaces, providing insights that can shape policies and practices in Kerala, promoting gender diversity for organisational growth and sustainability.
