Effect of seasons on osmotic fragility and haematological indices of cross bred cows

Twenty seven cross-bred (HF crosses) cows belonging to farmer's stock of western part of Rajasthan were selected to determine blood indices viz. To tal erythrocyte count (TEC), total leucocyte count (TLC), haemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and Osmotic Fragility (OF) during summer and winter seasons. The overall mean values of TEC(X10⁶/ml), Hb (g/dl), PCV(%), ESR (mm/hour), OF (Minimum and Maximum, g% NaCl) and TLC (X10³/ml) were 8.091±0.22; 11.01±0.651; 33.10±0.59; 0.70±0.101; 0.54 ± 0.001; 0.40 ± 0.003 and 8.97 ± 0.10, respectively.
