Abstract

In today's animal agricultural industries various trends are present to potentially increase the spread of infectious diseases in herds. The animal industry, especially larger commercial herds, has been looking for more efficient ways to fight against health problems for a long time. Good herd health management helps to prevent the development and/or uncontrolled spread of diseases and reduces economical losses. Infectious diseases are often of main importance in herd health management. The aim is to prevent an infectious disease to enter a farm or eradicating or managing a disease that is on the farm. The control of various health problems can be built into a quality assurance system on a farm.
