Abstract

Gastrin hormone and pepsinogen enzyme were determined in serum of healthy and pica affected Rathi cattle belonging to farmers’ stock of western part of Rajasthan. The overall mean values of gastrin and pepsinogen in healthy cattle were 104.2±9.6 pg/ml and 152.3±9.1 mU tyrosine, respectively. In the pica affected cattle a significant (p 0.05) increase was observed in the mean values of both the parameters when compared with those of healthy stock. It was also observed that the sampling time did not affect the gastrin and pepsinogen levels.
