A study was carried out to determine the serum levels of C-terminal parathyroid hormone (C-PTH) along with related minerals like calcium and phosphorus in healthy and pica affected female Rathi cattle in some drought affected districts of Western Rajasthan using RIA technique, grouped as female calves, non-pregnant cows and pregnant cows. The mean values (ng/ml) of C-PTH in healthy female calves, non-pregnant and pregnant cows were 1.79± 0.02, 1.86± 0.01, and 2.22± 0.01, respectively which were significantly (p>0.05) lower than those in the respective subgroups of pica affected animals. The mean value of serum calcium was non-significantly (p>0.05) and that of serum phosphorus was significantly (p>0.05) lower in pica affected animals than in healthy group.
