The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of personality characteristics with academic performance of adolescents. A sample of 400 students with 15-19 year age range from different schools of Varanasi completed the questionnaires that included the NEO-FFI-60 Five Personality Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) by Costa & McCrae (1992) and previous annual school examinations percentages were taken as academic achievement. Results of the study showed that personality traits of extraversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness and agreeableness are positively associated with academic achievement. While neuroticism is negatively correlated with academic achievement of adolescents.
