Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the locus of control beliefs in male and female adolescents. In all 100 adolescents, equal in numbers in both the groups participated in this study. They were administered the LOC -20 Short version Scale in Hindi to measure the internal/external locus of control among them. The analyses of the data obtained on both the groups revealed that female adolescents possessed significantly stronger belief in external LOC (externality), while the male adolescents exhibited stronger internal LOC (internality). Both the groups differed significantly in their beliefs of locus of control regarding the outcomes and rewards in their life. The results are thoroughly discussed and interpreted in light of the findings in previous studies. The implications of this study are also highlighted. The LOC -20 Short version Scale in Hindi (Singh & Pathak, 2017) appeared to be a reliable and valid tool to measure LOC beliefs in male and female respondents.
