Located in Phongsali Province, Laos, the sixth cascade of Nam Ou River hydro-power station is a largescale comprehensive water conservancy and hydropower project integrating flood control, irrigation, power generation and ecology. The dam height of the station is 85 meters, and the proportion of soft rock filling in the dam body is 81%. For the first time, the composite geomembrane seepage prevention technology is applied to the full section soft rock high rockfill dam, which is the highest geomembrane faced rockfill dam in the world. In order to ensure the long-term stable operation of the geomembrane faced rockfill dam, the geomembrane on the face slab surface of the rockfill dam was specially monitored for its deformation and internal buoyancy. The implementation of safety monitoring provides a strong guarantee for the safe operation of the dam, and also provides a scientific basis for the design, construction and operation of the geomembrane faced rockfill dam.
