Sustainable infrastructure requires reducing reliance on conventional construction materials such as aggregates and cement, which contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and resource depletion. Geosynthetics offer versatile, eco-friendly alternatives that enhance performance while lowering environmental impact. This paper discusses applications including geo-composites for drainage, geocells for load support and slope protection, and geogrids for soil reinforcement. These solutions reduce material usage, embodied carbon, and maintenance while improving durability and resilience. Compared to traditional practices, geosynthetics demonstrate significant carbon footprint reductions, aligning with India’s low-carbon goals and global sustainability targets.
