Relative Study of Shoot and Fruit Borer Infestation on Transgenic and Non-transgenic Varieties of Brinjal (Solanum melongena)

Abstract

Out of ten hybrid aubergine varieties screened against infestation by Leucinodes orbonalis (Guen) were studied at experimental farm of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidalaya Raipur, in transgenic brinjal group, there was comparatively much lower average level of shoot and fruit infestation i e 1.24 per cent and 0.92 per cent, respectively. While, in non-transgenic brinjal group, it was 15.38 per cent average shoot infestation and 30.35 per cent fruit infestation.
