Abstract

Bell pepper is one of the important commercial crops grown in India. Off season production fetches more prices. Diverse climate in India leads to production of bell pepper all around the year by providing suitable production environment. To get the higher productivity, optimum spacing and suitable level of fertilizer is necessary. Therefore an experiment was conducted to find out the effect of spacing's and different levels of fertilizers on growth and yield of bell pepper under shade net condition. The experiment was conducted at Horticulture Garden, RARS, Raichur during kharif 2008. Three different spacing's were used as main plot and six different levels of fertilizers as sub plot used in the experiment. In yield parameters spacing S1 (45 × 45 cm) and fertilizer level F6 (RDF + FYM) has given maximum number of fruits per plant, yield (kg/plant), fruit length, fruit girth, fruit weight compared with other spacing levels S2 (45 × 30 cm) and S3 (30 × 30 cm). In interaction factor also yield (kg/plant), fruit weight, fruit girth, fruit length found maximum in S1F6 level. In growth parameters plant height, days to first flowering and days to 50 per cent flowering were found desirable in S3(30 × 30 cm) and number of branches found maximum in F6 and days to first flowering and days to 50 percent flowering found early in F1(FYM alone) level.
