Abstract

The fourteen gaillardia genotypes were assessed in randomized block design with three replications. The genotype MG-9 recorded maximum (74.73 cm) plant height followed by MG-8 (72.53), MG-13 (71.97), MG-11 (71.33) and MG-6 (70.80). The plant spread was the recorded highest in MG-9 at E-W and N-S direction. There was significant difference found for primary and secondary branches per plant however, the highest primary and secondary branches per plant were recorded in MG-9. The MG-2 had recorded early flowering (94.00 days). The maximum flower diameter recorded highest in MG-6 (7.27 cm). The flower stalk length was recorded highest in MG-3 (27.63 cm). The flower stalk thickness was the highest recorded in MG-1, MG-5, MG-6, MG-7, MG-10 and MG-13 (3.0 mm). The maximum number of disc florets per flower were recorded in MG-1 (191.77) and maximum number of ray florets per flower in MG-9 (147.53). The number of flowers per plant, number of flowers per ha, and maximum weight of flower per plant were recorded highest in MG-9 and weight of 100 flowers were found in MG-6. The maximum vase life was recorded in MG-3, MG-5, and MG-13 (4.00 days). There was variation in colour of flower. The Lemon Yellow flower colour was recorded in MG-3, MG-5, MG-9, MG-10, MG-12 and MG-14, Indian Yellow in MG-1, MG-4 and MG-7, Aureolin in MG-2, MG-8, MG-11 and MG-13.
