Abstract

Generally, marigold is propagated by seeds. However, true-to-type plants cannot be obtained through seed propagation because it is an often cross pollinated crop. Hence for perpetuation of all characters of a particular plant and to obtain true-to-type plant one should follow asexual propagation i e cutting. The overall studies indicated that the propagation method by seed (P1) was found beneficial in increasing the growth and yield of marigold. However the propagation method by cuttings (P2) had a significant influence on flowering characters of marigold. The variety Shaunak orange was found to be significantly superior over the other varieties under study.
