Abstract

Water is the most important factor to plant growth and deficiency of water is a reason to drought stress. In drought stress situations, antioxidant system and some biochemical is changed. To know effect of drought stress on some types of citrus genotype, we change irrigation period for citrus genotype. In this study the samples irrigated every four, eight, twelve and sixteen days. Antioxidant, SOD, POD, Chlorophyll content, RWC, Proline were estimated. Results showed that with increasing irrigation period in all of three citrus genotype antioxidant capacity, SOD, POD, Proline were increased but chlorophyll content and RWC were decreased. All genotypes expressed similar changing pattern and it means that with decrease water availability antioxidant system activity increase to protect plants against drought stress.
