Abstract

Recent market demands have led to extended cropping seasons and off-season production of various plant species, especially fruit crops. Understanding of genetic control of flowering, developmental stages and environmental requirements of crops is important to develop appropriate production technologies and novel varieties. This paper presents a review of some main factors, including vernalization, photoperiod and their interactions in control of flowering in plants. Delaying/Advancing of bloom for the of off-season production and escape the bloom from endanger of spring frost, which is achieved by improvement of regulation of flower production technology like thinning (hand and chemical thinning), girdling, deficit irrigation or withhold water, pruning, plastic culture etc. that will prolong the fruiting season and avoid glut of the market, which could be benefit for both framer as well as consumer.
