Abstract

Twenty four hybrids of tomato developed using six lines and four testers in line x tester fashion were studied for estimation of heterosis for yield and its attributing traits. Hybrids ITOM-11-11/Pant T-3, ITOM-11-11/Pant T-3 and ITOM-11-11/Kashi Anupam were found most promising for yield and its contributing traits. These hybrid exhibited heterosis to the tune of 65.29%, 41.44% and 83.58% over mid parent, better parents and over the check, respectively for fruit yield quintal per hectare. The cross combination ITOM-11-11/Kashi Anupam expressed highest significant standard parent heterosis for yield and its attributing traits and it was identified for evaluation in multilocation trail and commercial exploitation.
