Abstract

The investigation on combining ability in gladiolus was carried out at in the ‘Floriculture Unit’ of New Orchard of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka during 2010–14. The 45 crosses synthesised by 10 × 10 diallel (without reciprocal) cross were evaluated along with parents in randomized block design with two replications and data was subjected to half diallel analysis. Per se performance studies revealed the hybrid TF × WS and IP × TF were found to be superior for days for rachis length, number of florets per spike and vase life. The hybrids CM × WS and WP × WS were early to spike initiation, to show color and also early for first floret to open.
