Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2015 at Vegetable Research Centre, Pantnagar to examine seed germination, plant height, fresh weight, dry weight, leaf area in eight different varieties at 30, 45 and 60 days after sowing (DAS) was observed which is high in AM-2 and less in Rmt-361. The maximum plant height, fresh weight, dry weight was recorded in Afg-3 at 60 DAS and minimum in Afg-1 at 30 DAS. Maximum leaf area recorded in Afg-2 at 60 DAS and minimum in Am-1 at 30 DAS. Maximum chlorophyll a content was recorded in Afg-2 at 45 DAS and minimum in Afg-4 at 60 DAS. Maximum chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll and carotenoid content were recorded in Afg-2 at 45 DAS and minimum in Afg-4 at 60 DAS. All the parameters are increased significantly with advancement of age.
