A field experiment was conducted during 1997–98 to 2000–2001 at Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur, to assess the role of various agrotechniqes in yield and quality of ratoon crops. Amongst agrotechniques tested, stubble shaving + trash burning followed by irrigation and cultivation recorded the highest cane yield (60.62 and 50.90 tonnes/ha during I and II ratoon respectively), commercial cane sugar (7.74 and 7.74 tonnes/ha), net returns (Rs 53,144/ha) and benefit: cost ratio (3.86) compared to least cane yield (46.87 and 34.10 tonnes/ha), commercial cane sugar (6.06 and 4.71 tonnes/ha, net returns (Rs, 35,588/ha) and benefit: ratio (2.74) recorded under the control.
