A field experiment was carried out during the rainy season (kharif) of 2019 at Rahuri, Maharashtra, to study the effect of micronutrient application on growth and yield of kharif onion (Allium cepa L.). Treatments comprised recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) (100: 50: 50 kg N: P: K/ha + 20 t/ha FYM) combined with different micronutrient formulations, viz. ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, borax and Grade I Phule micronutrient mixture. Maximum marketable bulb yield of the kharif onion (20.1 t/ha) was recorded under treatment RDF + soil application of Phule micronutrient mixture Grade I @ 25 kg/ha, with maximum percentage of grade A and grade B bulbs, highest polar and equatorial diameter as well as highest total soluble solids. Higher yield was the resultant of significant superior crop growth and yield attributes along with higher uptake of macro and micronutrients as compared to the control. Therefore, the Grade I Phule Micronutrient Mixture may be used for obtaining higher bulb yield, quality and maximum monetary returns for farmers.
