The silk gland of Bombyx mori is an organ specialized for the synthesis of silk proteins. In the present study the silk glands were dissected out from both heat induced and normal silkworm and the total silk protein thus isolated was subjected for two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE). There were 54 protein spots identified in the control sample where as 57 protein spots in the treated sample. Over all 3 proteins which are newly expressed and about 29 proteins were over expressed due to heat shock. The Current analysis contributes to our understanding of silk gland's response to heat shock.
