Abstract

Ten varieties of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) were selected for this study. Total 70 primers were tested for vatietal identification, out of which 11 gave maximum scorable bands, in which 10 primers showed polymorphism. A total of 126 bands were amplified using ten random primers, of which 64 (50.8%) were polymorphic. Variety Jwala could be identified using primers OPF-11 and OPG-7, S-49 could be identified using primer OPF-11, Kashi Anmol could be identified using primers OPK-4 and OPG-9, GVC-111 could be identified using primers OPG-9 and OPK-14, LCA-436 could be identified using primer OPG-7 and SG-5 could be identified using primers OPG-9, OPG-11 and OPK-16.
