Abstract

Fifteen genotypes of sesame were evaluated for moisture, protein, oil, carbohydrates and total sugars and variations in these parameters were found between 4.01 to 5.51%, 16.20 to 24.79%, 49.90 to 54.53%, 15.87 to 22.16% and 5.81 to 12.19%, respectively. The status of lignin and oxalate content was also evaluated and the values of these parameters ranged between 490 to 1077 mg/100 g and 534 to 1434 mg/100 g, respectively.
