The Rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars, parents and hybrid were identified by using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), with arbitrary oligonucleotide primers.A total of 15 arbitrary primers of OPA series were applied to 11 cultivars, 2 parents and 1 hybrid. Out of which, only 4 primers were selected for analysis that success fully amplified a total of 180 DNA fragments, of which 77% were polymorphic. All fourteen genotypes were classified into three different clusters, where variety P-203 was divergentone. Varieties could be identified on the basis of specific banding pattern. Parents and hybrid also produced differences in banding pattern and could be identified. IR58025 A line could also be differentiated from its Bline on the basis of differences in banding pattern.
