Abstract

The aim of this research work was to evaluate the anticancer potential of leaf extracts from the traditional medicinal plant i.e. Alstonia scholaris. The extracts of the leaves were screened for in vitro cytotoxicity by means of SRB assay on five human cancer cell lines: lung cancer cells (A-549), oral cancer cells (KB), breast cancer cells (MCF-7), neuroblastoma cancer cells (SK-N-MC) and colon cancer cells (SW-620). The ethanolic extract of the plant indicated the potent anticancer effect against all the human cancer cell lines.
