Cadmium (Cd2+) was subjected to the hydroponically grown Glycine max L. @ 100, 200 and 400μM concentrations and seeds were harvested for antioxidant and protein analysis. A significant (p>0.05) increment was recorded in the level of O2−, H2O2 and lipid peroxidation. The production of O2− was 1.5 folds higher at 400μM concentration as compared to 200μM concentration. H2O2 and lipid peroxidation showed maximum increment at extreme dose of treatment. Cadmium stress intervened the specific activity of enzymatic antioxidant viz. catalase, superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase andnon-enzymatic antioxidants viz. ascorbic acid, proline and glutathione. SDS-PAGE of total protein was carried out for total seed protein analysis under Cd2+ stress.
