In the present study, effect of double fortified salt (DFS) was evaluated on the nutritional status of anaemic children selected from government schools of Ludhiana district (Punjab). The children of the experimental group (n=60) were supplemented double fortified salt 2.08g/day/person (containing 1.77 mg of iron) while control group (n=60) received the same amount of iodized salt only. Salt was supplemented in mid day meal daily preparations like dal, rice, seasonal vegetable, curry pakoras, black channe, khichari etc. for a trial period of 90 days. Significant improvement (p=0.05, p=0.01) was found on the nutritional status of experimental group after supplementation.
