Abstract

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is an economically important vegetable crop grown in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Okra is multipurpose crop due to its various uses of the fresh leaves, pods and seeds. The field experiment was conducted with a view to work out the morphological, biochemical and entomological characters in ten genotypes of okra. This paper was aimed to correlate among morphological, biochemical and entomological attributes for ten different cultivars/genotypes of okra leaves. The results showed that genotype GAO-5 recorded the highest plant height (117.91 cm), leaf area (307.11 cm2) and yield (140.44 q/ha). Total phenol, true protein, mucilage and chlorophyll content were higher in GAO-5 as compared to other genotypes. The presence of insects like fruit borer, fruit & shoot borer, jassid and whitefly was observed maximum in Pusa Sawani and the minimum in GAO-5.
