The field experiment was conducted during kharif seasons of 2013–14 and 2014–15 at Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot to study the effect of various mode of zinc application on produce quality and yield of pigeonpea (cv. ICPL-87119). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design (RBD) with fifteen treatments in three replications. The treatments involved the combinations of two levels each of soil zinc (12.5 and 25 kg ZnSO4), farm yard manure (0 and 5 t ha−1) and foliar zinc (at flower initiation and pod initiation stage). The results revealed that, the protein and zinc content in pigeon pea grain was increased by 8–17% and 3–77%, respectively with different mode of zinc application. Similarly, the zinc concentration in leaf was found 1.4–14 times higher whereas, the stover Zn registered an increment of 165–220% under foliar zinc application. The grain yield of pigeon pea was also found 7–25% higher under various modes of Zinc application. Among the various treatments, the combined application of soil zinc, FYM and/or foliar zinc significantly influenced the quality attributes in pigeonpea.
