Abstract

With the confluence of various disciplines of sciences, several multifaceted technologies have evolved and nanotechnology is one of them. It has myriad of applications in variety of fields. Nano-based emulsions called nanoemulsions have received considerable attention recently due to their physico-chemical properties and kinetic stability. Furthermore, their rheological properties make them superior over counterparts. Also, nanoemulsion based delivery vehicles have been widely used in diverse fields ranging from cosmetic industries, agricultural chemical and drug delivery etc. owing to their efficient target delivery. Nanoemuslions in spite of their variety of applications suffer from some limitations which should be addressed in order to reap their full potential. Therefore, future research and development efforts should be directed to study the relationship between the system and its stability. In addition focus should be on investigating their bioefficacy as well physico-chemical properties. This review highlights various nanoemulson based formulations, their applications along with challenges and future perspectives.
