Aloe vera is seldom referred as “miracle” and “wonder” plant, claiming to treat and manage multiple health disorders used actively since 3000 years in Ayurveda. It also draws international appeal due to its wide range of unique compounds and properties which can be further used in a number of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmeceutical industries. Its efficacy is due to the physicochemical and antioxidant activities of the bioactive compounds. The present review provides a survey of literature designed to assess and compile all the available information on its composition, pharmacological activities and market scenario.
