Abstract

This paper reviews the Phytochemical importance of Allium cepa and its therapeutic uses in human health. Allium cepa is one of the most significant herbs cultivated and consumed worldwide. It was studied for its many pharmacological and medicinal properties. Experimental and clinical investigations also suggested that the plant and its constituents had preventive benefits on lung problems brought on by exposure to toxic chemicals, as well as on lung cancer, infections, inflammation and allergic disorders. Increased consumption of A. cepa lowers the incidence of allergic and inflammatory condition. Thus, this review could be helpful for strengthening of an alternative system utilizing Allium cepa to treat allergic, inflammatory and other conditions.
