Therapeutic uses of cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) in human health: A review

Abstract

Cinnamon a spice is inner bark of components like cinnamyl alcohol, oil cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid and coumarin. This herb has activities such as anti-allergy, antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant and as well as has an influence when they interfere with many treatments in heart, diabetes, neurodegenerative, cancer, antibacterial and fungal diseases. Cinnamaldehyde is the bioactive component present in the cinnamon and other macro and micronutrients such as carbohydrate, vitamin A and C, calcium, iron, magnesium are also present. Its phytochemical constituents such as phenolic and volatile compounds are beneficial to combat diseases.
