Synthesis of some Pyrimido[5,4-c]cinnoline and Triazepino[6,5-c]cinnoline Derivatives

Abstract

Intramolecular Friedel Crafts alkylation was carried out on 2-arylhydrazono-2-cyanoacetamide (1a, b) to yield 4-amino-6-substituted cinnoline-3-carboxamide (2a, b). Compound 2a was reacted with different reagents to give a number of pyrimidocinnolines and triazepinocinnoline 3–10. Trials were made to prepare 3-N-butylpyrimidocinnolinedione 11, but instead the dimer 12 and N-butylureidocinnoline derivative 13 were isolated. The structures of the prepared compounds were mainly confirmed on the basis of spectroscopic methods.
