The synthesis of platinum phosphine complexes containing N-(substituted aryl or benzyl)-γ- mercaptobutyramides by using phase transfer catalysis are reported. Complexes of the form [{4X-C6H4NHCO(CH2)3S}2Pt(PMe2Ph)2], where X = OCH3, CH3, Cl, benzyl, have been synthesized by the reaction of cis-dichlorobis (dimethylphenylphosphine) platinum(II) with the corresponding N-(substituted aryl or benzyl)-γ-mercaptobutyramide in a two phase system of water and chloroform in the presence of benzyl triphenyl phosphonium chloride. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, i.r, and 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
