In the present work, we demonstrate the activity of certain synthesised phenolic resins presenting -OH and NH- groups on Escherichia-Coli bacteria, synthesise was carried with phenols and formaldehyde in catalysed medium. Characterisation of these resins by IR and NMR spectroscopy shows the presence of –CH2– for novolac and substituted resins, and –CH2O– for resol resin. The study of the antibacterial activity by the membrane filtration method (Q = 0.4μ) by varying resin mass and time gives a better results with the resins containing –N+ R2- group than the others with only –OH group.
