Abstract

(−)-Jasmonic acid, (3R, 7R)-2-[2-(Z)-pentenyl]-3-oxocyclopentylacetic acid was isolated and characterized from corn kernels of Zea mays L. Combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy, optical rotation and infrared spectroscopy were used to establish its identity.
