New molybdenum (V) complexes of some Schiff base derived from 2-pyridinecarboxaldéhyde and 2-acetylpyridine and certain amino compounds such as ethylenediamine (EN), diethylenetriamine (DTA), triethylenetetraamine (TTA), p-phenylenediamine (PPN) o-phenylenediamine (OPN) and 3,6-dioxaoctane-1,8-diamine (DODN) have been synthesized (in situ) and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, electrical conductance, IR and electronic spectra, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The results suggest that the solid complexes contain polymeric molybdenum complexes with at least two molybdenum ions attached together via the oxo and chloride bridges. Also, the IR spectra suggest that the macroligand, coordinates through the azomethine and the etheric oxygen (−CH2-O-CH2-) groups as in case of the complexes derived from 2-pyridinecarboxaldéhyde and 2-acetylpyridine with 3,6-dioxadetane-1,8diamine.
