Abstract

This article describes the free radical homopolymerization of N-[(4-nitro phenyl) amino] maleimide (NPAM) in THF at 65˚C using AIBN as a free radical initiator. Free radical copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with N-[(4-nitro phenyl) amino] maleimide (NPAM) was also carried using AIBN in THF. The polymer samples have been characterized by solubility test, intrinsic viscosity, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectral analysis. The thermal behavior was studied by thermogravimetric analysis. The molecular weight was determined by GPC.
