Abstract

Present work deals with the study of physicochemical as well as bacteriological study of drinking water samples from Naigaon (Bz.), Nanded district, Maharashtra. Samples were collected from 21 public spots and studied to check its suitability for drinking purpose according to National and International standards. Many of the samples were found unfit for drinking due to exceeding chemical and bacteriological limits. The correlation between water contamination and its source and storage conditions was also studied. Ground water contamination can occur due to improper management of sources as well as poor hygiene during storage and distribution.
