Abstract

Monitoring was conducted to study percent population and percent tuber damage to the potato crop at harvest. White grub population at harvest was recorded 0.21–3.75 percent in the popular varieties viz. K. Girdhari, K. Giriraj, K. Jyoti, K. Kanchan and K. Megha in the year 2010–2012. Highest white grub population (3.75%) was observed in the K. Kanchan followed by K. Megha (3.54%), K. Jyoti (2.81%), K. Girdhari (2.39%) and K. Giriraj (1.88%) in the year 2010. The percent tuber damage was recorded in K. Kanchan (6.67%), K. Megha (6.11%), K. Giriraj (5.00%) K. Girdhari (4.44%) and Jyoti (2.22%). Percent white grub population and percent tuber damage was low in the year 2011 and 2012. There is no significance difference between white grub population and tuber damage in varieties of potato.
